On the Road Tour!
Thursday, October 8, 2015, from 8:15AM to 4:30PM
Hope you can join us for this very interesting Conifer/Japanese Maple Tour presented by WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardeners. Follow the trail for an adventure in evergreen and maple trees and visit three specialty nurseries offering unusual plant selections. First, we will visit Conifer Kingdom in Silverton, Oregon. A mail-order retail nursery that focuses on dwarf evergreens and Japanese maples, the nursery caters to customers across the nation who appreciate unique dwarf evergreens – pine, spruce and fir selections – and superior Japanese maples. These plants may grow slowly, but they maintain year-round beauty. The next stop is Iseli wholesale, a conifer nursery stocked with rare and beautiful dwarf conifers, Japanese maples and other ornamental trees and shrubs. See their beautiful display gardens, which definitely support their website quote – “Where the beauty of nature meets the artistry of man.” Lastly, we will visit Boring Bark for shopping of Iseli’s plants since Iseli is wholesale nursery. Boring Bark also has a display garden and offers refreshments for purchase.
The tour will meet for van transportation at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, which is located at 9319 NE Hwy 99, Hazel Dell, Washington. Cost: $30. Lunch: On your own at Red Apple Restaurant (American/Chinese), Boring, Oregon. Online registration is required by Oct 1 at http://bpt.me/1888040. For more information contact: 360-397-6060 x5738 or Erika.d.johnson@wsu.edu.

Birds English Garden & Nursery | Ridgefield, WA
Bird’s English Garden and Nursery is proudly family-owned and operated. They have an excellent selection of ornamental trees and shrubs, fruits, flowers, and specialize in unusual and rare perennials. Also offered are bulk soil products and organic soils and fertilizers. Everything from common annuals to perennials to trees, from native plants to exotics.
Located in charming Ridgefield, Washington.
Kevin Bird, President of Bird’s English Garden & Nursery, is a graduate of Washington State University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture. Upon graduation, Kevin accepted the position of Head Gardener at Knowsley Park, Liverpool, a stately home linked to the British Royal family in the north of England. After managing the 2,000 acre estate for five years, Kevin and his English wife decided to move back to the Vancouver area in order to open their own nursery and in 1994, the present seven acre site was acquired by the Bird family.
This site has had a nursery on it since the 1940’s. Its longevity has made it one of the most interesting nurseries in the area. Customers are allowed to browse anywhere on the grounds and all eleven greenhouses are open to the public. To maintain consistent quality and offer customers the lowest possible prices, Bird’s grows many of their own plants on site. The nursery also offers a Landscape Design Installation Service as well as a Premium Planting Service.
